Out of the mouths of babes
Terri
I had only been working fulltime for a few weeks when my three-year-old delivered this clanger on my arrival at home: “Oh Mummy! I thought you were dead!!!!”
It was amusing but also telling – clearly he had noticed my absence more than I had realised.
What amusing yet telling things has your child said lately?

Well, my three-year old girl has recently acquired a “boyfriend” at pre-school, and when she was mucking up in the car the other week, we did the old threat “You won’t have a birthday party if you keep this up”, with which she replied, “I’ll just run off to my boyfriend’s house!”
“How will you get there?” we asked. “I’ll just drive the car…”

Another one from three-year-old Lucy. I was quite ill yesterday (gastro bug) and at dinner time she came up with this one. “I know, tomorrow Grandma and Charlotte can stay home and look after you, and Daddy and I will go to Movie World!” I don’t even know where she heard about Movie World…. probably when she was watching unsupervised tv while I was sleeping on the couch…

A new one from Jay: “Mummy will you marry me?” But I’m already married to Daddy! “You can marry me too!”

Another good one from Lucy whilst eating breakfast yesterday:
“I need to hop down” (from the table, out of her booster seat.
Grandma (eating toast): “Do you want me to help you?”
Lucy: “No, you have greasy hands!”
